Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8:00 pm to begin the tour. From here you will go to the Plaza de Armas where you will visit the famous cathedral. After touring this sacred church, you will continue on foot from the Plaza de Armas through an ancient street built by the Incas to the Q’oricancha or Temple of the Sun. In Q’oricancha you will see the clash between Inca culture and Catholicism and The construction of the Inca temple is truly amazing, and this temple is known as the key spiritual center of the Incas from which all roads lead to tahuantisuyo (
Tahuantinsuyo is a word from Quechua (the native language of the Andes) and was born from the fusion of 2 terms: tahua, which means “four and his, which meansregion.” The name mainly referred to the four regions into which the empire was divided. To the northwest was Chinchaysuyo, to the northeast was Antisuyo, to the southwest was Contisuyo and to the southeast was Collasuyo.). From Q’oricancha, your group will walk along Avenida el Sol, where you will take a bus to travel 25 minutes outside the city to reach the majestic Inca site of Sacsayhuaman. This site has enigmatic monoliths that weigh up to 200 tons. Your guide will describe this phenomenal site, and you will have time to explore it a bit on your own. From Sacsayhuaman, there is a 5-minute bus ride to Q’enqo, an Inca site with fascinating Inca alterations. After a short visit here, we will go to Puca Pucara, a small circular Inca site 5 more minutes away. The last stop on our tour is Tambomachay, a water temple with its impressive water fountains, which it is believed that the Incas used to bathe. We will then head back to Cusco, where the tour ends in the main square unless you are taking a private tour, in which case you will be returned to your hotel.
