Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Km 104 - Machu Picchu

Embark on your journey with an early morning departure from Cusco at 5:00 am, where we’ll pick you up from your hotel. A scenic drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas takes us to Ollantaytambo train station, followed by a picturesque 1.5-hour train ride to km 104—the starting point of our trek. Along the way, you’ll witness diverse ecosystems and stunning vistas.

Upon arrival at km 104, we proceed to the checkpoint, where we present our documents and tourist tickets. The trek commences with a visit to Chachabamba, an ancient archaeological site nestled at 2,170 meters (7,170 feet) above sea level. This site served as a ceremonial and administrative center for the Incas. We then embark on a moderate 3-hour ascent to Wiñay Wayna, another significant Incan site at 2,650 meters (8,700 feet), renowned for its diverse flora and breathtaking views.

After a picnic lunch at Wiñay Wayna overlooking the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba River, we continue through a semi-tropical forest for 1.5 hours to Intipunku (the Sun Gate) at 2,720 meters (8,920 feet). Here, we enjoy our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Following a short break and photo opportunity, we descend for 45 minutes to reach the citadel of Machu Picchu, where we capture more memorable photos.

From Machu Picchu, a bus takes us to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll spend the night. Upon arrival, you’ll have free time to relax at the hotel or visit the nearby hot springs before dinner (not included).

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we head to the bus station for a scenic 30-minute ride up to Machu Picchu, timed perfectly for sunrise. Enjoy a private guided tour of the citadel for approximately 3 hours, exploring its most remarkable features and learning about its rich history.

Following the guided tour, you’ll have free time to further explore Machu Picchu or optionally hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (advanced reservations recommended).

In the afternoon, we return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, our private transport awaits to transfer you comfortably back to your hotel in Cusco, concluding our unforgettable journey to Machu Picchu.
